Open Steel Grating vs Solid Steel Plate
Whether your drawing calls it open bar grating or open floor grating, the decision is the same one: a grid of bearing bars replaces the continuous steel of a solid plate, and weight, water, snow and airflow all follow from that single choice. Here is the honest comparison.

How the open panel works
What an Open Panel Passes — and What It Must Not
1 · The open grid
Bearing bars run in the load direction and cross bars lock them into one panel. Everything between the bars stays open — that openness is the product, not a by-product.
2 · What falls through
Rain, snow-melt, washdown water and dust drop straight through instead of collecting on the floor. No water pooling, drier walking surfaces, and ventilation for the levels below.
3 · What must not fall through
Where small parts, tools or heels must stay on top, open grating is the wrong panel. We then produce press-locked close mesh down to 11 / 11 mm openings, heel-proof patterns, or solid checker plate.

Bearing bars up to 100×8 mm take wheel and point loads, yet the open grid still carries none of a solid plate's dead weight — less steel to fabricate, lift, ship and support per square metre of floor.

Water sheds through the mesh instead of standing on it, and optional serrated bearing bars bite into soles — the reason open grating is the default for rain, snow and washdown zones.
