Variant map

One Welded Line, Four Ways to Order It

Every welded grating panel we ship starts from the same forge-welded frame — you choose the material and the surface. This map covers the four variants buyers actually order; each one is made in the same workshop, on the same in-house line.

Variant Material Surface Specify it for
Black welded gratingQ235B carbon steelPlain mill finish, painted on site if neededDry indoor plant flooring, panels integrated into a painted structure
Galvanized welded gratingQ235B, hot-dip galvanizedPlain or serrated, ASTM A123 / ISO 1461 coatingOutdoor platforms, walkways and trench covers exposed to weather
Serrated welded gratingQ235B, black or galvanizedTooth profile machined into the bearing bar topsWalking surfaces exposed to water, oil or frost
Stainless welded gratingSS304 or SS316Plain or serratedFood, chemical and marine washdown areas

Every variant is open mesh — water, light and debris pass through the panel instead of collecting on it. Not sure which one fits your project? Send your drawings — we will map the variant inside the 24-hour quote.

Process comparison

Welded vs Press-Locked vs Swage-Locked vs Riveted

The forming process decides how the joint holds, how fine the mesh can go and how the panel behaves under load. Here is the honest comparison — including which of these lines actually run in our workshop.

What Happens at a Single Welded Joint

bearing bar cross bar forged joint

1 · Fusion under pressure

At every crossing, current and force meet at one point: bearing bar and twisted cross bar are resistance-forged until they fuse. No filler wire, no clips — the joint is the bar itself.

straightness reference bearing bars, one plane

2 · Flat in one pass

Because the forge cycle is short and evenly applied, welded grating leaves the line flat — the bar tops sit in one plane without post-weld straightening. Panels lay down fast on site.

steel zinc layer

3 · Black, or zinc all over

Galvanized welded grating goes to a certified hot-dip partner near our mill for an ASTM A123 / ISO 1461 coating that covers every joint — typically 2–3 days, already inside your production window.

Why welded

Why Buyers Order Welded Grating Factory-Direct

Flat-top surface, high-load frame

Flat bearing-bar tops give a level walking surface while the one-piece welded frame spreads wheel and foot loads across the whole panel — flat and strong at any span.

In-house made, one accountable factory

Forge-weld and press lines run under one roof in our own workshop — the team that welds your panels also inspects them, and factory audits are welcome before you commit.

Samples and small MOQ

Welded grating samples in 5–7 working days, small trial orders welcome, custom sizes cut and banded to your drawings — an itemized factory quote lands within 24 hours.

Applications

Where Welded Grating Panels Go

Open mesh that lets water, light and debris fall through instead of pooling — welded panels are the working surface wherever people, wheels and steel flooring meet.

Plant flooring & mezzanines

Open-mesh floors over plant and warehouse levels — light passes down, spills drain through.

Walkways & access platforms

Catwalks, gantry access and roof walkways — specify by span direction and load, not by guesswork.

Trench, drain & pit covers

Covers that hold traffic above while the channel below stays free-flowing and serviceable.

Stair treads

Welded treads in plain or serrated surface, with banded ends and nosing options.

Materials & test documents

Material traceability starts at goods-in, where the mill test certificate of every Q235B, SS304 or SS316 heat is verified — the first of our five QC stages. What leaves the workshop is paper, not promises:

  • Mill test certificate to EN 10204 Type 3.1
  • Weld inspection on the five-stage QC plan, report with every shipment
  • Declaration of Conformity prepared per order destination

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is welded grating?

Welded grating is an open-mesh steel panel: parallel bearing bars carry the load, cross bars lock them in place, and every intersection is resistance-forged under pressure so the bars fuse into one piece. There are no clips or rivets that can work loose, which is why welded grating is the default for platforms, walkways and trench covers.

Plain or serrated bars, black or galvanized finish?

Order serrated bearing bars where the walking surface is exposed to water, oil or frost — the tooth profile is machined into the bar as a grip feature. Order plain flat bars for dry interiors and steady pedestrian traffic. For finish, hot-dip galvanizing to ASTM A123 / ISO 1461 is the default for outdoor exposure; black mill finish suits panels painted on site or used indoors.

Can I order welded grating samples or a small trial quantity?

Yes — welded grating samples ship in 5–7 working days and small trial orders are welcome. Full production runs 15–25 working days after drawing confirmation, hot-dip galvanizing included, and both windows are confirmed in your 24-hour quote.
