Grating Plate Formats — Open Mesh, Not Solid Sheet

A steel grating plate is a finished panel presented like a plate: closer mesh, cut to size, edges closed with a band so it bolts down as one module. Buyers who ask for flat grating mean the same thing — a flat-bar panel supplied as a plate-format unit. One honest warning before you compare: grating plate is open construction. The solid option at the end of the table is a different product.

Grating Plate FAQ

Is a grating plate the same as checker plate?

No. A grating plate is open-mesh construction: bearing bars and cross bars leave clear openings, so water, ice and debris fall straight through. Checker plate is solid sheet steel with a raised pattern and nothing passes through it. If your project needs a closed walking surface over an open panel, we also quote a checker-plate-over-grating composite — ask for it in your RFQ.

Do grating plates come with banded edges?

Yes — banding is standard on our plate orders. A flat steel band is welded around the panel ends, which closes the cut bars, carries the edge load cleanly and makes the panel safer to handle on site. Plain ends are available on request.

How fast are samples and production of grating plate?

Samples ship in 5–7 working days and mass production runs 15–25 working days after drawing confirmation, both including hot-dip galvanizing. Rush production in 10–15 days is possible with a surcharge — ask in your quote.
