What Is Steel Grating? Four Lines, One Factory

Steel grating is an open-mesh flooring panel: parallel bearing bars carry the load, cross bars lock them into a grid, and the open area sheds water, ice and debris. Buyers specify it as metal grating, steel metal grating, bar grating or grating mesh — the panel behind the names is the same. Dengtai builds it in four lines, all factory-direct:

Welded line

Pressure-forged bearing and cross bars — the load-span workhorse for platforms, walkways, trench covers and guardrails.

Welded steel grating →

Press-locked line

Flat bars interlocked under pressure — perfectly flat, close mesh down to 11/11 mm for trench, tree pits and facades.

Press-locked grating →

Stair treads line

Grating panels fabricated into treads — banded ends, end plates and plain or serrated nosing for industrial and escape stairs.

Grating stair treads →
SS304 / SS316

Stainless line

The same bar construction in SS304 / SS316 — corrosion-proof platforms and drainage for food, chemical and marine duty.

Which Steel Grating Line Fits Your Project

One factory, four construction routes. The forming method decides load behavior and mesh density; the material decides where the panel may serve. Here is the honest side-by-side:

Why buy at the mill

Why Buyers Order Steel Grating Factory-Direct

Mill-direct, in bulk or small MOQ

A factory outlet, not a trading desk: FOB Tianjin pricing quoted by tonnage, custom sizes from small MOQ, and an itemized quote within 24 hours — free.

Built to last, serrated or plain

Anti-slip performance is a surface choice: serrated bearing bars bite into wet or oily soles, plain bars keep trolleys rolling smooth. Both are built to last in Q235B or stainless.

SS304 & Q235B, MTC 3.1 included

Certified & tested, reports on request: every order ships with a mill test certificate to EN 10204 3.1, a factory inspection report and a Declaration of Conformity for your market.

Applications

Where Steel Grating Gets Specified

Open mesh that carries loads while shedding rain, spills and debris — the default surface wherever people, wheels or drainage meet a steel floor.

Platforms & walkways

Load-rated flooring for plant platforms, mezzanines and maintenance walkways.

Trench & drainage covers

Covers for trench drains, gullies and catch basins — heel-proof close mesh optional.

Stair treads & guardrails

Treads with serrated or plain surfaces and matching guardrail infill panels.

Corrosive & food duty

SS304 / SS316 flooring and drainage for chemical, food and marine plants.

Materials & test documents

Every heat of Q235B, SS304 or SS316 enters production with its mill test certificate verified at goods-in — the first of our five QC stages. Panels leave with documentation, not promises:

  • Mill test certificate to EN 10204 Type 3.1
  • Factory inspection report with every shipment
  • Declaration of Conformity prepared per order destination

FAQ

Steel Grating FAQ

Do you accept small orders of steel grating?

Yes — small trial orders are welcome, with custom sizes available from small MOQ on every order. Full-container volumes are calculated per loading plan, so you only pay for the steel you ship.

How fast are samples and production?

Samples ship in 5–7 working days and mass production runs 15–25 working days after drawing confirmation, both including hot-dip galvanizing. Rush production in 10–15 days is possible with a surcharge — ask in your quote.

Should I order black or hot-dip galvanized steel grating?

For outdoor or wet service, hot-dip galvanizing to ASTM A123 / ISO 1461 is the default, applied by a certified partner near our mill and already counted inside the production window. Black panels suit indoor or painted service; SS304 / SS316 stainless needs no coating at all.
