The 150 mm format
What a 150 mm Gully Opening Actually Needs
A 150 mm gully is the small square collection pot cast into yards, parking bays and forecourts — a point inlet, not a linear trench. It takes a metal square gully grid: one square cover over one pot, carrying the wheels that pass above while storm water drops straight through. Four choices cover the format, and each one is a line on the same quote.
| Cover option | Best suited to | What you specify | How we supply it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single one-piece grid | Yards and parking bays where the pot is lifted and cleaned with a hook | Clear opening, seating width, bearing bar size, mesh, class | Welded or press-locked panel from our in-house lines, cut and banded to the opening |
| Hinged twin-leaf grid | Gullies in trafficked lanes and washdown yards cleaned often — one leaf opens, the other stays seated | Leaf split, hinge side, class per leaf | Two panels from our lines; hinges, seating frames and fixings sourced as companion line items on the same order |
| Close-mesh grid | Yards catching leaves, litter and plastic film that would blind a coarse grid and block the pot | Mesh opening — press-locked down to 11 / 11 mm — and class | Close-mesh press-locked panels from our press line, sized to the same opening |
| Seating frame | Concrete and paved openings that need a flat seat and load transfer into the surround | Frame profile, anchoring, grid size it seats | Sourced companion item, matched to your grid and quoted per gully |
The 150 mm figure is the clear collection opening — the finished grid is cut to the opening plus its seating, confirmed pot by pot in your quote. Covers, frames and grates from one factory, one drawing. Not sure which format fits your pots? Send your gully schedule — we will spec it inside the 24-hour quote.
Size it right
Four Steps From Pot to Panel
Measure the clear opening
The inside face-to-face size of the pot — not the frame outside it, and not the paving. One measurement per gully is enough to start, and a photo settles anything ambiguous.
Choose the cover format
How often the pot is cleaned and how much small debris reaches it decide between a single grid, a hinged twin leaf or a close-mesh grid. Lanes that are cleaned weekly earn the hinges.
Set the class for the wheels
A pot inside a delivery lane carries far more than one on a footpath. Pick bearing bar height and spacing from our range for the traffic that actually crosses the grid.
Fix material and finish
Q235B hot-dip galvanized is the default for outdoor yards and car parks. SS304 or SS316 belongs where washdown chemicals, salt or corrosion reach the gully every week.
Why the 150 mm format
Why Specifiers Standardize on 150 mm Gully Grids
Fast-draining gully grating
Open mesh keeps the full free area of the pot collecting — water drops straight through while leaves and litter stay on top where the cleaning crew reaches them. Flow is set by open area, not by holes punched in a plate.
Load-rated for yard wheels
One welded panel spreads a wheel across the grid and into the seating frame, so a delivery truck passes a 150 mm pot without a thought. Classed A15 to D400 for the traffic over it — referenced to EN 124 and stated in your quote.
Cut to every pot, small MOQ
Every grid is cut to its measured opening — galvanized or stainless, single or hinged, close mesh where debris demands it. Small trial orders are welcome, so one proven pot can lead the whole site schedule.
Applications
Where 150 mm Gully Grids Work
The 150 mm pot is the workhorse point inlet of hard standings — small to build, easy to clean, and only as good as the grid that caps it.
Yards & loading areas
Pots inside wheel routes, classed for delivery trucks and forklifts.
Car parks & kerbsides
B125-class grids for cars and vans, with seating frames for paved edges.
Washdown & forecourts
SS304 / SS316 grids where cleaning chemicals and salt reach the pot.
Paths & paved yards
Close-mesh square grids where feet cross the cover every day.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the lead time for a 150 mm gully grid?
Samples ship in 5–7 working days and mass production runs 15–25 working days after drawing confirmation, hot-dip galvanizing included. Rush production in 10–15 days is possible with a surcharge — ask in your quote.
Do you supply the seating frame and hinges with the grid?
Gully grids are fabricated in our own workshop to your opening sizes. Seating frames, hinges, lifting keys and fixings are sourced companion items, quoted as line items and shipped with the order so one delivery covers every pot.
Can a 150 mm gully grid be made with close mesh for small debris?
Yes — press-locked panels run down to 11 / 11 mm centers, holding back leaves, litter and film while water still drops through. Tell us the debris load at your site and we confirm the mesh and class in your quote.
