Stock covers vs made to order
Stock Trench Covers or Custom Trench Grating to Drawings
Real trench runs rarely stay one width for their whole length. When the channel narrows, bends or gets crossed by trucks, off-the-shelf covers force the site crew to cut and trim — here is what changes when the panels are made to your layout instead.
| What the run needs | Stock trench covers | Custom trench grating |
|---|---|---|
| Variable width along the run | Standard widths, trimmed on site with exposed cut ends | Cut per station to the width at each point, every edge banded |
| Curved or angled runs | Not offered in stock formats | Framed as segmented panels that follow the line of the channel |
| End plates and anchors | Standard banding only | End plates, bolt-down points and locking details per drawing |
| Load class along the run | One specification for the whole run | Heavy bars where vehicles cross, lighter bars in between |
| Materials and finish | Q235B black or galvanized | Q235B, SS304 or SS316 · black or hot-dip galvanized |
| Documentation | Standard mill documents | MTC EN 10204 3.1, inspection report and DoC per destination |
Not sure how to dimension a variable run? Send your trench layout — we will spec it inside the 24-hour quote.
What we need from you
How to Send Us Your Trench Layout
A trench layout is simpler than a panel drawing: dimensions taken along the run are enough for us to build the cut list. Four things tell us everything we need.
1 · The run in plan
A plan view of the channel with stations marked along its length — straight lines on paper or a marked-up sketch are enough to start.
2 · Width and depth per station
Clear width and channel depth at each station, so every panel is cut to the opening it actually sits on.
3 · The crossing points
Mark where vehicles cross the run. We specify heavier bars at those points and standard bars between them, stated line by line in the quote.
4 · End plates and anchors
Note where the run ends, changes direction or needs bolt-down fixing, and we frame those edges with end plates and anchor details to suit.
Have the layout but no drawing? Photos plus a sketch with dimensions along the run are enough — the review is free inside the 24-hour quote.
Why order custom
Why Buyers Order Custom Trench Grating from Drawings
Any size, cut per station
Made-to-order panels in any width the channel calls for — variable runs cut station by station, curved runs framed in segments, all edges banded before they ship.
Steel or SS, with MTC 3.1
Q235B galvanized for yards and road crossings, SS304 or SS316 for washdown and chemical drains — mill test certificates travel with every batch.
Quote in 24h, small MOQ
An itemized quote per line item lands within 24 hours of your layout, and small trial orders are welcome before you commit to the full run.
Applications
Where Custom Trench Runs Show Up
Anywhere a channel has to be followed rather than filled — these are the layouts we quote most.
Yard and site trench runs
Long perimeter and apron drains with widths that change at every junction box.
Roadway and crossing points
Heavy bars specified where wheels cross, bolt-down anchoring at kerb lines.
Washdown and process drains
SS304 / SS316 runs for food and chemical floors, drainage that survives the hose.
Curved plaza and facade edges
Segmented panels that follow a curve, with close-mesh geometry for pedestrian comfort.

Materials & test documents
Every heat of Q235B, SS304 or SS316 enters production with its mill test certificate verified at goods-in — the first of our five QC stages. Custom trench covers leave with documentation, not promises:
- Mill test certificate to EN 10204 Type 3.1
- Factory inspection report with every shipment
- Declaration of Conformity prepared per order destination

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What should I send for a custom trench grating quote?
A plan view of the run with the width and length station by station, the crossing points where vehicles pass, and any end plate or anchor details. A marked-up sketch with photos is enough to start — drawing review is free inside the 24-hour quote.
Can you follow variable widths and curved or angled runs?
Yes. Straight runs are cut per station to the width at each point, and curved or angled runs are framed as segmented panels that follow the line of the channel. Segments are banded and numbered so the site crew can lay them in order.
What are the lead time and minimum order?
Samples ship in 5–7 working days and production runs 15–25 working days after drawing confirmation, hot-dip galvanizing included. Small trial orders are welcome and quotes are itemized FOB Tianjin, with EXW or CIF negotiable.
