ADA requirements

What ADA Grating Requirements Ask

ADA grating requirements are about the walking surface: accessible routes must stay free of openings that can trap a cane, heel or wheelchair caster. We translate that into a geometry we produce to — honestly and on the record. An ADA-compliant pedestrian grating panel is specified by its opening envelope and cross-bar spacing, not by surface coatings, and we quote that geometry in writing before a panel is cut.

What the requirements ask

The ADA requires accessible pedestrian routes to be free of openings that trap canes, heels or wheelchair casters. For steel grating that becomes an opening-size requirement — the geometry of the mesh, not a load test.

Scope — where it applies

Public sidewalks, ramps, building entryways and accessible walkways. The requirement targets the walking surface, while the grating still has to drain surface water underneath.

Key points for procurement

Specify the opening limit or the mesh pattern; we produce close-mesh panels down to 11 × 11 mm and document the geometry with the order. We produce to the requirement — we do not claim a certification we do not hold.

ADA Requirements vs Our Produce-to Position

We produce to requirements — we do not claim certifications we do not hold. Here is how each ADA project requirement maps to our manufacturing position.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you provide compliance and DoC documents for ADA-compliant grating?

Yes. Every order ships with a Declaration of Conformity prepared per ISO 17050 for the destination market, an MTC to EN 10204 Type 3.1 and a factory inspection report. Test reports on request.

What is the difference between producing to ADA requirements and third-party certification?

Producing to a requirement means panels are manufactured and inspected to that requirement's geometry. Certification is a separate third-party audit program. We state what we produce to and back it with documents and on-request testing — we do not claim certifications we do not hold.

What are your sample and production timelines?

Samples ship in 5–7 working days and mass production runs 15–25 working days after drawing confirmation, both including hot-dip galvanizing. Quote within 24 hours.
