ADA explained

What ADA Means for Bar Grating

The ADA requires accessible pedestrian routes to be free of openings that can trap a cane tip, heel or wheelchair caster. For bar grating, that is an opening-size geometry question — and we produce to it. An ADA-compliant bar grating panel is therefore built on close cross-bar spacing with the opening held within the required envelope, rather than on any special coating or finish.

What ADA asks of grating

Accessible routes must not have openings that can trap a cane tip, heel or wheelchair caster. For bar grating that is an opening-size and geometry requirement, not a material or load test.

Scope — pedestrian access routes

ADA applies where the public walks: sidewalks, ramps, building entryways and accessible walkways. The grating must keep openings small while still draining surface water.

Key points for procurement

Produce close-mesh panels (down to 11 × 11 mm) or bar spacing sized to your project's opening limit. We state the geometry we produce to and document the panels — we do not claim a test we do not hold.

ADA Requirements vs Our Produce-to Position

We produce to requirements — we do not claim certifications we do not hold. Here is how each ADA project requirement maps to our manufacturing position.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you provide compliance and DoC documents for ADA bar grating?

Yes. Every order ships with a Declaration of Conformity prepared per ISO 17050 for the destination market, an MTC to EN 10204 Type 3.1 and a factory inspection report. Test reports on request.

What is the difference between producing to ADA requirements and third-party certification?

Producing to a requirement means panels are manufactured and inspected to that requirement's geometry. Certification is a separate third-party audit program. We state what we produce to and back it with documents and on-request testing — we do not claim certifications we do not hold.

What opening sizes can you produce and what are your timelines?

Openings down to 11 × 11 mm close mesh and bar spacing from 30 mm upward, produced to your project's heel-proof requirement. Samples ship in 5–7 working days and production runs 15–25 working days after drawing confirmation.
