How Do You Install Steel Grating?

Check the fixing layout that ships with the order and mark the support positions on the steelwork before lifting any panels.

Position

Set each panel so the bearing bars run across the supports and the panel sits flat on the support flange.

Align

Butt panels together and hold the small gap you need for thermal movement and drainage between panels.

Fix

Bolt clips or saddle fixings to the support flange at the marked points, near each panel end and at regular centers along the span.

Level

Walk the panels to check for rock or lipping, and shim the supports where the steelwork is slightly out of level.

Protect

Touch up any coating damage around the clips and keep the layout sheet with the maintenance log for future access.
