The same Q235B bar runs on both in-house processes — electro-forged welding for open mesh at heavy loads, or press-locking for close mesh down to 11/11 mm. No third-party panel sourcing.

3 · Black or HDG finish

Black panels leave bare or with oil protection for export. Hot-dip galvanizing to ASTM A123 / ISO 1461 runs at a certified partner near our mill — typically 2–3 days, already inside your production window, with coating thickness sampled on every batch.

Reading the Q235B designation

The letter Q marks a structural carbon steel specified by yield strength; the 235 is the minimum yield strength, 235 MPa, in the common bar thicknesses grating uses. The B is the quality grade: impact-verified at moderately low temperature, one step above grade A.

Structurally that means a ductile, readily weldable steel — Q235B joins without preheat at grating bar sizes, takes hot-dip galvanizing well, and is the standard structural grade behind our welded and press-locked carbon steel panels. When a drawing simply says "mild steel grating," it usually means this same grade family — we quote it as carbon steel, with the grade stated on the mill certificate.

Specifying in North America? Q235B and ASTM A36 are broadly comparable structural carbon grades — comparable structural carbon grades are available to project spec, so confirm the exact grade in your quote. We never claim a grade certification we have not issued; the mill test certificate lists the actual heat analysis and mechanical values for your verification.

When does carbon steel beat stainless steel on cost?

In dry, sheltered or indoor service — and outdoors wherever a coating can be maintained — Q235B carbon steel with a hot-dip galvanized finish is usually the lower-cost route to a long service life. Stainless steel earns its higher cost in permanently wet, chemical or marine environments where a coating would not survive.

Which finish should I choose: black or hot-dip galvanized?

Black (uncoated) panels suit indoor use, site painting or immediate fabrication, and can be supplied with oil protection for export. Hot-dip galvanizing to ASTM A123 / ISO 1461 is the default for weather exposure — it adds 2–3 days at our certified galvanizing partner, already inside the 15–25 working-day production window.
