What AASHTO Means for Steel Grating

AASHTO writes the design specifications used on US highway and bridge structures. For grating, the AASHTO context is the design-load framework the engineer applies — the panel is then produced to that load case.

What AASHTO is

The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials writes the design specifications used on US highway and bridge projects — including the live-load models, such as HL-93, that govern deck and walkway structures.

Scope — design loads on public works

The AASHTO context enters a grating project through the load case the engineer sets: panel size, bar spacing and steel section are sized to the design load, not the other way around.

Key points for procurement

Bridge and highway specs usually name the grating reference practice and the coating. We produce to ANSI/NAAMM MBG 531 with ASTM A123 galvanizing, and document each lot for the project file.

Can you provide compliance and DoC documents for AASHTO project grating?

Yes. Every order ships with a Declaration of Conformity prepared per ISO 17050 for the destination market, an MTC to EN 10204 Type 3.1 and a factory inspection report. Third-party test reports on request.

What is the difference between producing to AASHTO and third-party certification?

Producing to a standard means panels are manufactured and inspected to that standard's requirements. Certification is a separate third-party audit program. We state what we produce to and back it with documents and on-request testing — we do not claim certifications we do not hold.

What are your sample and production timelines?

Samples ship in 5–7 working days and mass production runs 15–25 working days after drawing confirmation, both including hot-dip galvanizing. Quote within 24 hours.
